2017 Pinot Noir "Nils"
The goal behind our reserve bottling of the Pinot Noir “Nils” is to showcase the powerful expression of Pinot Noir on our site. Through the barrel selection process, we seek to highlight structure and concentration, while maintaining balance and focus.
2017 was an exceptional year for Pinot Noir on our site, with the Van Duzer winds allowing for the retention of acidity to match mature phenolics and ripe fruit flavors. Drink now or hide a few bottles away to experience it’s rewarding evolution. The grapes were fermented using exclusively native yeast (both primary and malolactic), with approximately 39% whole-cluster. The wine was aged for 18 months in French oak barrels, 36% of which were new.
